Write like nobody's watching.

Private like a paper notebook. Searchable like one isn’t. One file, $24.

A single cursor.

Your words.

Nothing else.

The Deliberate Absences

Let's talk about what isn't here.
The shape of things left out.

No word count chasing you across the screen.

No formatting toolbar wrestling your thoughts into neatness.

No cloud sync. No distant servers. Your words stay yours.

No social sharing. Your vulnerability is not content.

No AI assistant finishing your sentences.

No streak counters. No guilt. No gamification.

No subscriptions. No mood trackers. No noise.

"Your words are encrypted with a passphrase only you know.
If you forget it, there is no recovery — that's the point.
Privacy that actually means responsible agency."

What's Inside

The Typewriter Engine

Your cursor stays at the center of the screen. Always.
Past words fade gently to the edges. The present moment remains in focus.

Client-Side Encryption

AES-256-GCM encryption with PBKDF2 key derivation.
Your passphrase never leaves your device. We can't read your entries. No one can — except you.

Dual Modes

Write mode: the cursor pulses, edges fade, the world narrows.
Read mode: your full entry appears with clean margins and natural flow. Switch with a click.

Fully Offline

No server required after first load. Your words live on your machine, encrypted and sleeping until you return.

Light & Dark

Dark mode by default — warm near-black with soft cream text.
Light mode available for daylight and printing. Fullscreen mode for optimal focus.

The Archive

A quiet sidebar lists your entries by date with first-line previews.
Simple search. No tags, no categories, no organizational debt.

If Your Words Can't Leak, They Also Can't Be Recovered

Durability is your job.
Here is exactly what that means.

Where Your Words Live

Entries are encrypted in your browser and stored in IndexedDB on the machine you're writing on, with localStorage as a fallback.
Nothing is uploaded. There is no copy of your journal anywhere else — including with us.

Asking The Browser To Keep Them

After your first unlock the journal asks the browser for persistent storage, and tells you what it got: granted, or best-effort.
Browsers are free to refuse, and some do. That's why the answer is shown rather than assumed — and why it's never the whole plan.

Export Is The Backup

The export button writes your whole journal to a single encrypted .json file — still locked with your passphrase — wherever you choose to save it.
Copy it to a drive, a disk, a folder that gets backed up. It's ciphertext, so where it rests matters less than that it exists.

Getting It Back

The open button imports an exported file into any copy of the journal. Entries merge, with newer versions replacing older ones.
If a week passes without an export, the journal quietly reminds you. It doesn't nag beyond that.

A Note on Sharing

Two copies. One for you,
one to give away.

Your purchase includes two copies of The Eternal Journal. The second is a gift.
For a friend, a family member, or someone you care about who needs a quiet place to think.

Think of it like buying two copies of a book you love. One to keep, one to give. Except here, the giving matters more, because once a journal is opened, it can only ever belong to one person.

Share the spare. Keep yours close.

One Purchase. Yours Forever.

No subscriptions.
No recurring charges.

No "premium" features locked behind another paywall.
Just a journal, a lock, and room to think.
